Don't you just hate when the rest of the world loves a novel, your expectation are sky high, and then it just tanks! Sometimes I just can't understand what all the fuss was about or why I didn't find it as great as the rest of the world.
Here's my list of all-time biggest disappointments...
10. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES books by by L.J. Smith --I'm the biggest fan of the TV series on the CW. My favorite show. But the books in no way lived up to the greatness I watch every Thursday night. They were okay, just not what I was expecting.
9. MIDNIGHT SUN by Stephenie Meyer --The retelling of TWILIGHT from Edward's POV. Stephenie Meyer had a hissy-fit and never finished this one. It still urk's me to this day!

8. IRON KING by Julie Kagawa --Was okay. I rated it 3/5 stars. But everyone else on the planet seemed to think it was 5/5 stars!! I just didn't find it that great.
7. FIRE by Kristin Cashore --You know how much I loved GRACELING?! A lot. And I waited and waited for this novel to come out. But it was no where near the same quality as GRACELING was.
6. THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH by Carrie Ryan --This was a good book with great writing. But I hated the ending so so much that it completely ruined it for me. Such a shame.
5. PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS by Michelle Zink --Loved the idea behind this one. About one good twin and one evil twin. It just didn't live up to my expectations.
4. EVERMORE by Alyson Noel --What can I say? I just didn't like this TWILIGHT wannabe.
3. CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS by Cassandra Clare--I loved the MORTAL INSTRUMENTS series...that was up until I read book #4. I know she's making the money off this series, but sometimes 3's a charm and 4 is just pushing it.
2. SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater --Maggie Stiefvater is one of my favorite writers. She just has this way with words. I really truly enjoyed LAMENT and BALLAD and I expected the same out of SHIVER. But in the end, the dual narration didn't do it for me and neither did having the characters already in love.
1. BEAUTIFUL CREATURES by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl --I stirred some feathers when I reviewed this novel at 1/5 stars. I mean people loved this book. I didn't. 335 pages in and I couldn't even make myself finish. It just felt so forced, so full of unnecessary details, so long, etc. Oh well.

I think you know I always feel this way and could make a much longer list. ;) I just hate when a book is talked and talked about and then you read it and it's dreadful!
I love vampire diaries too so I read the books. Not good, not good at all!
This is actually a good idea, top ten posts! I may have to do something like that next year a few times.
I know what you mean about a few of them--being irritated over Midnight Sun never being finished, I didn't get into Evermore series either, I wasn't impressed with Beautiful Creatures. There are always those books that just don't quite make the cut! I enjoy reading your honesty here. :)
Awe that sucks you didn't like The Iron King! It's one of my favorites, but there are definitely a few on this list that disappointed me too. I still haven't finished City of Fallen Angels yet. 100 pages in and I realized I wasn't hooked like I normally should have been and I got too bummed to continue further.
Oh my gosh. I thought I was the only person on the PLANET who didn't like Iron King. Glad to see I'm not alone.
Jenny--sometimes I feel like I give books that too much credit. I mean if I forget all about them/their characters by 2 months later then was it really that good to begin with?
Jessica--I forget the website, but another ya blogger (not the one I mention each week) does run something like this every tuesday now.
Amber--I was pretty bummed about City of Fallen Angels too. :/
Karen--I'm glad you agree :)
