About Me

Hello all!
I'm an aspiring YA-author with the dream of one day becoming published.  I started writing in 2008 after seeing the movie Twilight, being in the theater, and hearing all the tweens/teens/my sister scream when Edward entered the scene.  The thought running through my head: I wish I could write something and have just one person love it like this.  Before that day, I'd given writing romance a few half attempts, but it was then that I decided I wanted to try writing Young Adult.  I fell in love with it and I've been writing ever since.  So, some more about me...

I come from a military family (a navy brat) and I grew up all over America.  Although, when people ask, I always say I'm from Virginia since that's where I've lived longest and for all of my adult life.  The coolest place I ever lived was Guam.  The prettiest was San Diego.  And the smallest was Stephens City, VA.  In my writing I always use these places as reoccurring settings.  Write what you know, I suppose.

After graduating high school, I attended college in Southern VA.  Radford University.  And I studied psychology and then ultimately counseling there.  I worked as a school counselor for a year, then as a kindergarten aide, and now I'm a flight attendant for an Irish carrier.  I guess the need to travel is so ingrained in my blood these days that I get a little stir-crazy stuck in one place for too long.  (Thanks Dad)  Being a flight attendant is really perfect for me.  I get to read on the job, write on layovers, and fill that need I have to travel.

In reality I may never become published, but I'm having fun trying, blogging, reading, and dreaming.  I encourage everyone who has ever considered it to start writing.  Just go for it.  Don't worry about if it sucks or not.  Don't stress over the details and the editing.  Just write it.  If you're going to be dreaming anywhat, you might as well dream big.  Right?

It never hurts to try and today's as good a day as any to start.  :)
